The Senegalese composed himself and shot hard but his countryman Edouard Mendy made a fantastic save. A slip from Tyrick Mitchell saw Chelsea break away down their right flank, the ball found Havertz inside the area, and last year’s Champions League hero had time to perform a stepover and send a lucky pass into the path of Loftus-Cheek. Chelsea’s attacking midfielder smashed a first-time effort into the corner of Palace’s net.It did not take long for Chelsea to double the lead.
