Inside Vihiga Bullet’s great turnaround

Vihiga Bullets head coach Juma Abdallah is happy with the team’s turnaround and says the change in attitude and character has helped the team end what was a difficult start to their top-flight campaign.Bullets are unbeaten in the last three games and the result has seen them close on Wazito who occupy the playoff spot. The team is currently 17th in the table with 19 points, one-off Wazito who occupy the playoff spot.Back-to-back wins over Mathare United in the last one week lifted the team from what looked like an inevitable drop from the top tier and now featuring in the playoffs or better securing automatic safety now looks achievable for Juma’s men.In an interview, Juma says the change of attitude has seen the team rise from the ruins. He is now eyeing 2-3 three more wins in the remaining eight remaining matches of the season.Vihiga Bullets second goal of the match pic.twitter.com/33w0LatZRQ— Rodgers Odhiambo (@rodgers_otienoo) April 16, 2022 “We thank God because the team is currently on a good momentum and run, picking six points from a team like Mathare United is not easy. The attitude of the players has changed, they are playing good football, the character is good and the target is now to get at 2-3 wins in the remaining games and I believe that it will be good enough to keep us in the league,” he added. On the team’s early struggles, the tactician believes not gelling and defensive issues were crippling the FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) newbies.“The team had not gelled and we had major defensive issues. I changed that and right now we have a strong backline, we have good young players, the goalkeeper (Elix Otieno) has also let in very few games and the team is generally on an upward trajectory. I urge my players to keep going,” he added.Next for them is an away match against Bidco United on Saturday 23rd April.
