Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano is confident that Kenyan clubs will feature in continental tournaments next season despite the current FIFA suspension slapped on the country over third-party interference.FIFA slapped Kenya with a suspension in February over interference. This emanated from the government’s decision to disband FKF and appoint a Caretaker Committee led by retired judge Aaron Ringera to oversee football activities in the country and hold elections for a new office. Some of the sanctions that come with the suspension include Kenyan clubs not taking part in any CAF or FIFA sanctioned competitions; in Kenya’s case, clubs will not be in a position to play in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. The Kenyan leagues however continue with the Caretaker running them.🙏| Skippo, thank you for everything. All the best in your new chapter @eugeneasike .#KenyaMilele #Brewer4Life pic.twitter.com/iMISfu8pys— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) April 18, 2022 Matano is however confident that the issue can be resolved to enable Kenyan clubs to feature in the continental showpiece next season“Changes in football can be made in minutes or seconds, and we are playing in the league knowing that we will play continental football if we win the title. If they (FKF Caretaker Committee) know that we will not represent the country then they should end the league early because there is no point in playing. But I am confident that this problem will be resolved, it is our local problem and only we can get solutions,” he stated. With eight matches to go, the Brewers are currently second in the FKF Premier League with 46 points, eight points off leaders Kakamega Homeboyz. This season they represented the country in the CAF Champions League before they dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup. They narrowly missed out on a group stage ticket after going down to CS Sfaxien in the final hurdle.
