In order to clinch a record 35th league title – Real Madrid need just four points from their final five games, thanks to tonight’s 3-1 win over Osasuna. First-half goals from David Alaba and Marco Asensio did the damage necessary to hand Los Rojillos their first defeat in four home matches. Lucas Vasquez sealed the deal in injury time while Karim Benzema will want to forget this evening as soon as possible.Real Madrid endured an onslaught of Osasuna attacks from the very outset, despite their status as clear favourites. However, they somehow found themselves a goal up in the 12th minute from Alaba’s opportune tap-in at the second time of asking. But less than two minutes after the hosts were back thanks to veteran Croatian forward Ante Budimir. He finished off an impressive team move after being fed by Chimy Ávila on the right flank. The capital club responded like true champions-elect – they stepped up a gear and nicked in another in the additional minute of the first period. After Eduardo Camavinga chipped in an exquisite through-ball, Asensio did the honours taking advantage of a rebound shot by Dani Ceballos. Before the hour mark, Carlo Ancelotti’s outfit were handed two golden opportunities on a platter to extend their lead as the hosts gave away a brace of penalties. Shockingly for the visitors and much to the pleasant surprise of the home crowd, Osasuna custodian Sergio Herrera pulled off two successive terrific saves to deny Benzema his moment of glory. The visitors made a couple of substitutions that seemed to add a bit more composure to the midfield which made it even harder for Los Rojillos to make another comeback.Ultimately, Los Blancos added a third deep into six minutes of added time through Vázquez – thus extending their unbeaten head-to-head league streak to 14 games (W10, D4).Tomorrow Barcelona travel to Sociedad and that is where the attention of Real Madrid fans will be since Blaugrana’s loss means Los Blancos are just one point away from the La Liga title.LA LIGA – ROUND 33TuesdayMallorca – Alaves 2-1 (2-0)/Prats 11, Muriqi 45+4 – Raillo 73 og/Betis – Elche 0-1 (0-0)/Morente 82/Villareal – Valencia 2-0 (2-0)/Danjuma 10, 17/WednesdayAtl.Madrid – Granada 0-0Celta – Getafe 0-2 (0-1)/Mayoral 23, 52/Osasuna – Real Madrid 1-3 (1-2)/Budimir 14 – Alaba 12, Asensio 45+1, Vasquez 90+6/***odds are subject to change***
