With the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee meeting clubs in the top and second-tier, a number of proposals have been fronted to the current constitution.The Caretaker Committee held consultative meetings with Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clubs on Thursday before meeting National Super League (NSL) clubs on Friday to recommend changes in the FKF Constitution with the meetings set to continue on Monday through Wednesday next week.Ringera: I do not know what will happen to Kenyan football after 10th May 2022The Committee’s Chairman, Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera noted that the current FKF Constitution does not act in accordance with the Kenyan constitution and the Sports Act.“As it is now, the current 2017 Constitution does not comply with the Constitution of Kenya and Sports Act and this is why we had to sit and agree on changes that will help football thrive. Transparency is key and so this had to be out of mind,” said Ringera.The Committee through the Legal Standing Committee proposed amendments to 17 clauses in the current FKF Constitution of 2017 which will be presented to the public and football stakeholders for debate.In the meeting held at the Nyayo National Stadium, NSL clubs proposed three major changes to the constitution including a lady Vice President of the federation, three women in the NEC, and a representative for women’s leagues.Under the proposed changes, the structure of membership will now include Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association, Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association, and Kenya Colleges & Universities Sports Association with the associations set to possess voting rights.A change was also proposed on Clause 14 (1) (C) talking directly about Members’ rights to convene the General Assembly at regular intervals, as a general rule that at least once a year on or before March 31 in March of every corresponding year.Philemon opens up on why Gor Mahia have been inconsistentFurther, the same Clause 14 (1) (g) talks about any disputes arising and requiring arbitration involving itself or one if its members relating to statutes, decisions, and directives of FIFA, CAF, CECAFA, or FKF shall be pursued using internal mechanisms and only be referred to the Sports Disputes Tribunal or Court of Arbitration of Sports after exhausting all internal dispute or appellate mechanisms.Another vital proposal was that the FKF president would be expected to publish or cause to be published the audited accounts and executive summary of the president’s annual activities report in at least two newspapers at least 30 days before the Annual General Meeting failure to which, it is proposed that the president will automatically be suspended for three months.
