FKF Caretaker Committee Chairman Aaron Ringera says he does not know what will happen next after their term comes to an end on 10th May with no clear roadmap yet for Kenyan football. The Ringera led committee was appointed on 11th November by the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed following her decision to disband the Nick Mwendwa-led FKF over what she term as misused of public funds. The Committee’s mandate included running of all football activities in the country and hold elections to pave way for the next office holders. With less than a month before their mandate comes to an end, the Committee is yet to provide a roadmap meaning there won’t be polls and the game stares at another stalemate. They are currently collecting views from stakeholders on constitutional amendment, a venture observers say is an exercise in futility they do not have the mandate to do so constitutionally. They met FKF Premier League Clubs on Thursday and they are set to meet National Super League clubs on Friday.Asked what next for Kenyan football when their term expires, Ringera, a retired judge was not certain on what will follow saying the matter rests in the hands of the cabinet secretary.EARLIER TODAY | The FKF Caretaker Committee held a consultative meeting on the FKF Draft Constitution with Kenya Premier League club representatives. pic.twitter.com/yo03JgToW6— FKFcaretaker (@FKFcaretaker) April 21, 2022 “After getting the views we will hand over the document to the CS, because as you know our tenure comes to an end on 10th of May and we don’t know what will happen next. Maybe FIFA will be involved, maybe there will be a Normalization Committee which will carry the process forward,” he stated. On whether they would have completed their job by 10th May, Ringera admitted that it is race against time but is confident that they will be done by then.“For us it is a run against time but we believe we will have finished our job by then,” he added. The decision to disband FKF resulted in Kenya being suspended by FIFA and among conditions for lifting of the suspension is the reinstatement of the disbanded federation. With the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers starting in June, Kenya has until mid-May to have the suspension lifted lest they get kicked out of the qualifiers.
