“My father used to say life is like a box of chocolates” is one of those emblematic lines from the much-loved Oscar-winning movie “Forest Gump”.But for some people, a box of chocolates means more than life. It’s the life itself, the place where they sing and cry, love and hate, worship and suffer spontaneously and as passionately as it gets. That ‘box of chocolates’ – La Bombonera – is located in the heart of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, and it has been the home of local giants Boca Juniors for eight decades. But we know it as simply La Bombonera.SAT: 02.30: (1.58) COLON (3.70) ESTUDIANTES (5.68)And it’s one of the most heated sporting arenas in the world of football. However, decades and decades of hosting ecstatic supporters have led to the deterioration of the stadium’s infrastructure to such levels that it’s literally falling apart!?La Bombonera shaking. Literally! It’s long been known that Boca Juniors’ La Bombonera shakes when there’s a home game on (or la selección for that matter). But seen from this angle it’s slightly terrifying! 😨🎥 @natalio_pescia pic.twitter.com/1nk6K8qYg1— Tears at La Bombonera (@BomboneraTears) April 21, 2022 The footage made during their last home fixture against Godoy Cruz, which ended in a stalemate 1-1, is disturbing as the stadium is strikingly shaking under fans. We sincerely hope Boca’s stadium will undergo an immediate reconstruction in order to avoid any future incidents, let alone possible tragedies that the rotten stands could cause.
