Matasi not focusing on Homeboyz in desperate title chase

Tusker FC goalkeeper Patrick Matasi says they are not interested in how league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz are performing and are solely focused on their own performance as the title race between the two sides hots up.The Brewers trail the Bernard Mwalala led team by eight points with eight matches left before the current campaign comes to a close in June, the remaining matches include a tie between the two teams that will be played at the Brewers’ Ruaraka backyard.Tusker managed to shake off their early struggles in the season and is currently second in the log with 46 points. The Kakamega-based club on the other hand have been impressive throughout the season and have suffered just two defeats so far this season.Appreciation Post: David Okoth Odhiambo10 goals, 7 assists. #AbanaBeingo #MozzartBet#wearehomeboyz pic.twitter.com/6JqUr5orVP— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) April 20, 2022 With the title race in its final stretch, either side will be praying for the other to slip but Matasi says they are not focusing on Homeboyz matches. The seasoned keeper says they are only keen on winning their games and are not paying any attention to Homeboyz.“We do not focus on our opponents; our concentration is on our matches. After one game we shift focus to the next, we played against Gor Mahi and we now look at the game against AFC Leopards. We do not look at who is on top or what points they have we are solely focused on our games,” he said.He adds that they will keep pushing till the end with the hope that things go their way at the end of the season.“It is three points at a time for us and the rest will follow at a later stage,” he added.Tusker will play AFC Leopards on Sunday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
