The Mustangs were running wild at the American Athletic Conference Championship.
The lone player in the 60s each day, SMU’s Nathan Petronzio shot impressive rounds of 68-66-69 to win the individual title by two shots over South Florida’s Run Youprayong and Houston’s Marcus Wochner, the first win of Peronzio’s college career. Not only that, the sophomore from Bee Cave, Texas, also led the Mustangs to a nine-shot win over South Florida for the team title, just their second in program history. Four Mustangs finished inside the top 15 while all five players finished T-22 or better.
