APS Bomet head coach Charles Odera has blamed tough luck for their shocking 2-0 loss to neighbours Silibwet Leons on Wednesday at Bomet Stadium. The automatic promotion hunting side slid in their bid to open a six-point gap at the apex when they fell to Silibwet who are in their second season in the second tier.Odera was quick to observe that his side created more chances that their opponents but lack of sharp cutting edge and heroic goalkeeping cost them the three points. The former Muhoroni Youth tactician who was headhunted in March to replace Benedict Wanjala said they exhausted all their tactics in a bid to force the ball past the line and grab the bragging rights and the three points at stake but were unsuccessful.“It wasn’t our day at all for we did everything we could to score at least a goal and get back to the game but we didn’t succeed. We had our chances but somehow, we were unable to utilize them. They had two half chances and that’s how they managed to win the game. The condition of the pitch did also not favour us as our style of play entails, short passes,” he said.Despite recording the fifth loss of the season, Odera still holds on the belief that the setback will not deter them from gaining promotion at the end of the season. The former Kisumu Hotstars boss said he will be eyeing redemption when they face Migori Youth this weekend at the Migori Stadium.Woe unto Kenyan football as frustrated referees plan to boycott weekend matches“I have told the boys to forget about the game and focus on the next one. The only thing I do not want them to carry to the next are the mistakes they committed. The league is synonymous to a marathon and just because we lost, it doesn’t mean that our chances of getting promoted have plummeted,” he said. The former Chemelil Sugar coach in the meantime called on the Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee to rejig the fixtures so as to ease the congestion and afford players sufficient time to rest.
