Sevilla returned to second place in La Liga with a 1-1 draw against relegation candidates Cádiz at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to extend their unbeaten record on a Friday to eight matches. The hosts knew that victory would put them back in the driving seat in the race to finish runner-up to champions-elect Real Madrid, and this seemed to push them on in the early stages as they made the perfect start. Youssef En-Nesyri headed in off the right post from Ivan Rakitić’s corner to make it 1-0 after only six minutes with his fourth league goal of the season.Julen Lopetegui’s side were spurred on by the early goal, and Érik Lamela had a couple of opportunities to double Sevilla’s lead, before the ball fell to Los Piratas defender Luis Hernández from a throw in and his well-struck first-time volley was parried behind by Bono.Forced somewhat by the situation in the game, as well as their precarious position just above the relegation zone, Cádiz were showing a willingness to break forward, and a cross into the area was headed into the path of Lucas Pérez who saw his shot saved magnificently by the alert Bono.Ancelotti is one step away from history: I’m a bit superstitious, we haven’t won it yetSevilla have never lost at home to Cádiz in competitive action, but the visitors were more than competitive throughout the game, and they got their reward when Pérez’s magnificent free-kick from range went over the wall and came back off the underside of the bar to draw Los Piratas level with 25 minutes to go.The Rojiblancos were the more probing side in the closing stages, and they might have snatched a late winner when the ball fell to En-Nesyri from a corner, but he couldn’t sort his feet out in time to get a meaningful shot away. While this result lifts Sevilla to second, it wasn’t the three points Lopeteugui’s men were hoping for, and Barcelona can leapfrog them with at least a draw at home to Mallorca on Sunday. Cádiz, meanwhile, are two points above the relegation zone, and will drop into the bottom three if Granada beat Celta Vigo.LA LIGAFridaySevilla – Cadiz 1-1 (1-0)/En Nesyri 6 – Lucas 66/Saturday15.00: (3.50) Alaves (3.35) Villareal (2.30)17.15: (1.56) Real Madrid (4.40) Espanyol (6.75)19.30: (2.40) Valencia (3.35) Levante (3.30)22.00: (3.15) Ath.Bilbao (3.05) Atl.Madrid (2.65)Sunday15.00: (3.00) Elche (3.05) Osasuna (2.75)17.15: (2.90) Granada (3.10) Celta (2.60)19.30: (3.20) Rayo Vallecano (3.10) Sociedad (2.45)22.00: (1.35) Barcelona (5.30) Mallorca (8.00)Monday22.00: (2.81) Getafe (2.90) Betis (2.90)***odds are subject to change
