Ahead of their encounter on Sunday, Sofapaka head coach David Ouma has lauded Nzoia Sugar FC’s sturdy defense and their lightning-quick counterattacks. Since appointing Salim Babu as the head coach to replace the departed Ibrahim Shikanda, the Millers have turned around their fortunes and have freed themselves from relegation places but are however not marked safe yet. Ouma blames luck for Sofapaka’s bad runOuma admitted that they will be facing a rejuvenated side that will play with a low block as they hope to hit on the counter in a bid to get a victory. “We are facing a revitalised side who have made it difficult for their opponents to collect full points. They are solid at the back and equally dangerous on the attack. I know we’ll have limited space because they’ll sit back and try to hit us on the counter, but we’ll handle the millers the same way we’ve handled our previous opponents. Nzoia will not be easy, but we hope to make it two out of two on Sunday,” said Ouma. The 2009 Premier League champions will be brimming with confidence following their 2-0 win over Nairobi City Stars which marked only their second win of the year. Having registered the league’s second-highest number of draws at 12, Ouma is hoping to get a number of wins on board in the remaining eight games of the season. Sofapaka duo ruled out of Nzoia clash“Football is about making use of your chances and being consistent with your performance. We have been drawing, but we finally got back to winning ways, and there is no better feeling than winning more matches. This will only call for more responsibility from the players and utilising all the chances that come our way. I believe if we can work on the consistency bit, then we will achieve our target by the end of the season,” added Ouma.
