Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama featured for 90 minutes as his club, CF Montréal picked a 2-1 win over Atlanta United on Saturday evening at the Saputo Stadium.Montréal were second best throughout the game but they somehow managed to bag all the points courtesy of goals from Kamal Miller and Djordje Mihailovic.Canadian defender, Kamal Miller was the star of the match as he registered a goal and an assist to help Montréal continue with their resurgence after what was a difficult start to the new season.Comme un mur. Trying to pass @VictorWanyama like…#CFMTL pic.twitter.com/GqvNFVsTgR— CF Montréal (@cfmontreal) April 30, 2022 The central defender got the ball rolling in the fourth minute when he rose high to head home a Djordje Mihailovic freekick for a dream start at home. The match was however far from comfortable after that early advantage with Atlanta controlling a big chunk of the possession, Argentine attacker Marcelino Moreno was particularly a thorn in Montréal’s flesh as he kept causing the defenders problems but the hosts did well to keep him at bay in the first half.Six minutes into the second half, Moreno got his goal. He collected a loose ball inside the area, evaded one challenge, and went for the near post with his shot bouncing off the upright into the back of the net. Some fancy footwork from Miller eight minutes from time created space for the central defender to whip in a cross for Joaquin Torres to head home which proved to be the winning goal.Deuxième but avec Montréal pour @KMillz_00!THERE YOU GO KAMAL 💥👊#CFMTL pic.twitter.com/I5EaGqAVPP— CF Montréal (@cfmontreal) April 30, 2022 Montreal jumped Atlanta in the Eastern Conference standings, moving into a fourth-place tie with Orlando City. Next for Montréal is a home match against Orlando City on 7th May.
