AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems says he was only impressed by his team’s first-half performance in the 2-1 win over KCB FC on Sunday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.First-half goals from Victor Omune and John Makwata put Ingwe in the driving seat at halftime but a crumble in the second half nearly earned the Bankers a point. They got one back in the 71st minute through Sydney Lokale and a minute later they won a penalty which Ingwe keeper Levis Opiyo did well to deny the striker and preserve Ingwe’s advantage. The win also saw them bounce back from last week’s defeat to Tusker but for KCB, the struggle continues with just one win in 13 games. In his post-match interview, the tactician expressed his satisfaction at how they played in the first phase of the match and believes they should have scored more goals.“We made a good first half leading to 2-0 at halftime but you know in football leading 2-0 at halftime is the most dangerous result because when you come back for the second half, you need to kill off the game by scoring the third goal so that you do not give the opponent hope and we had opportunities to score the third, we had chances, hit the post but unfortunately we did not score,” he stated.FULL TIME AFC Leopards 2 KCB FC 1⚽️ Victor Omune ⚽️ John Makwata @Betsafe #OursForever #INGWE pic.twitter.com/0DI1x1cNJA— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) May 1, 2022 He also lauded Opiyo for saving the spot-kick that would have drawn the Bankers’ level while admitting that the visitors’ long-ball approach in the final minutes of the game caused his team problems.“After they scored we began to shake and started defending deeply. I think that Lovae (Levis Opiyo) saved us on the penalty but towards the end of the game it was all long balls from them, we tried to play but we were defending in our box and I really did not like the last 20 minutes except the fact that that we fought and that is a good thing but regarding the team block tactically, we were not in position,” he added.Next for Ingwe is the Mashemeji Derby clash against Gor Maha on Sunday 8 May in Kisumu.
