City Stars ace folds national team ambition after losing hope of ever turning pro

Nairobi City Stars striker Ezekiel Odera admits that he will never fulfil his earlier dream of playing club football outside the country.Having played in the Kenyan Premier League and the National Super League, the seasoned goal-poacher is at the sunset of what has been largely a fruitful career that saw him turn out for KCB FC, Gor Mahia, Ushuru FC, AFC Leopards and Simba wa Nairobi.At City Stars, he has found the back of the net seven times this season and set up five goals for his teammates asked whether he still harbours the dream of going pro, the striker said the dream is gone as he considers himself too old to be signed by foreign clubs.”I’ve also put aside any ambitions I previously had of playing in the foreign leagues. I’ve already called time on international competition and I wouldn’t take up a slot in the national team even if I were to be offered one, “he added.With his contract with City Stars expiring in a month’s time, Odera hopes to earn a new deal with the Kawangware based side.“My contract will be expiring in June and I hope to get a new offer. Though my years have advanced, I won’t hang up my boots just yet. I believe I’m still strong enough to compete effectively on the pitch,”he added.
