Their first leg match ended in a goalless draw but when Gaspo Women host title-chasing Vihiga Queens on Saturday 7 May at Stima Club, a lot is at stake and the Women Premier League (WPL) fixture is promising to be explosive.Gaspo are coming off a draw to Kangemi Ladies and before that, a defeat to Zetech Sparks, results that slowed their bid to finish in second place as Ulinzi Starlets put a three-point gap between them. “No one goes to a match anticipating a loss so we are going for maximum points. In the first leg, playing away in Vihiga, we had chances to score but did not make use of them. Mwanza eyeing maximum points against ThikaThis is an area we have addressed and I expect a good performance today,” offered Gaspo team manager Edward Githua. The Tila Wangui-led Gaspo are looking to be the first side to subject Vihiga to their first defeat. The Kiambu-based side was the first to make the three-time champions drop some points in the first-leg draw. The other points Vihiga have lost were in the draw against Ulinzi in the second leg. “They managed to hold us at home and now that they have home advantage, it is a match to be approached with all caution. We have won all our matches in Nairobi this season so we have that going for us and are looking to extend that streak,” said Vihiga tactician Boniface Nyamunyamu. Nyamunyamu, while acknowledging that her absence will be felt was quick to add that the side has enough depth to withstand Gaspo’s onslaught even in her absence. “She has become an integral part of the team and in her absence, we have to tweak our formation on the pitch but it is nothing we cannot handle. I believe in my squad and all the players are able to deliver,” added Nyamunyamu. The other match of the day will see Bunyore Starlets travel away to Kisumu where they take on relegation-fighting Kisumu All Starlets as the Daniel Arunga charges also fight not to fall into the red zone. Bunyore are ninth on 15 points while Kisumu are five points behind in tenth place. Victory for either side will not change their positioning on the log but brings them closer to escaping the chop. Bunyore are coming off a 2-0 loss to Trans Nzoia Falcons while Kisumu fell 0-1 to Wadadia and are looking to bounce back to winning ways.Saturday fixturesGaspo Women vs Vihiga QueensBunyore Starlets vs Kisumu All Starlets
