High flying Bandari made it five games without defeat by spanking Posta Rangers 2-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match staged at the Thika Sub County Stadium on Saturday.Bandari head coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani admitted that they struggled in the first half but was impressed at how they boys contained pressure when they were on the back foot. “In football you will get moments where you control the game and sometimes the opponent will control the game but we were very disciplined tactically when we did not have the ball and tried to limit them to very few chances,” said Kimani. His counterpart Salim Ali was left dejected by his side not taking the chances they created in the opening half and also lamented the nature of goals they conceded.”Football is a game of chances if you do not score then the opponent will punish you and the two goals were gifts the first goal was due to pressure and the second goal was a mistake from our defender,” said Salim. The game was off to a slow start with both teams taking time to get their groove and finally Posta were able to create the first meaningful chance of the game when Bernard Ondiek threaded in a neat through ball to Brian Marita on the left flank but the former Tusker FC forward opted for the difficult route towards goal as he tried to round Michael Wanyika who read his intentions and smothered the attack in the 20th minute.Ondiek was a live wire in the opening half as he again found Vincent Wasambo with a pass through the eye of the needle but the former Kariobangi Sharks midfielder blazed the effort high.Bandari finally got a foothold in the encounter and came close when Johanna Mwita turned Dinken Mwema inside out but he was let down by his finishing that hit the side netting in the 36th minute.Bandari came close again in the 42nd minute when Siraj Mohammed floated in a cross that was headed towards goal but Geoffrey Shiveka was in the line to clear Abdalla Hassan’s header.Posta could have headed into the break ahead were it not for missing guilt edge chances when Brian Otieno’s cut back found Caleb Olilo whose shot was deflected to Wasambo who took time and allowed Dennis Magige to recover and clear the ball. After a slow start to the closing half, Bandari finally broke the deadlock through Keegan Ndemi who volleyed the ball into the bottom left corner after Geoffrey Shiveka’s headed clearance from Kevin Kimani fell kindly to him.Anthony Kimani’s charges doubled their lead in the 69th minute when Johanna Mwita played a wall pass off Keagan Ndemi which slipt open the Posta defense as Mwita fired the ball past the onrushing Opiyo.Bandari managed to hold on to the win and made it five unbeaten games while Posta suffer their third defeat in four games.Posta Starting XI: Kevin Opiyo, Dinken Mwema, Michael Apudo, Geoffrey Shiveka, Kennedy Odhiambo, Bernard Ondiek, Caleb Olilo (Patrick Otieno 62′), Sammy Odera (Cavin Odongo 70′), Brain Otieno (Francis Nambute 62′), Vincent Wasambo (Chrispinus Onyango 70′), Brain Marita (Joshua Nyatini 70′).Unused Subs: Jairus Adira, David Ochieng, Sammy Meja, Timothy Wanyanga.Bandari Starting XI: Michael Wanyika, Brian Odera, Andrew Juma, Siraj Mohammed, Atariza Amwai, Dennis Magige, Keagan Ndemi (Umaru Kasumba 80′), Abdalla Hassan (Darius Msagha 84′), Kevin Kimani (Benjamin Misha 84′), William Wadri (Faraj Ominde 80′), Johanna Mwita (Chris Ochieng 80′).Unused subs: Joseph Ochuka, Bernard Odhiambo, Felly Mulumba, Ronny Otieno.
