At least nine National Super League (NSL) clubs have jointly written to the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed requesting all upcoming matches to be postponed until some conditions are met.The nine clubs include Migori Youth FC, Zoo FC, Silibwet Leons FC, Coastal Heroes, Gusii FC, Dandora Love, Kisumu Allstars, Mombasa Elite, and Vihiga United.Woe unto Kenyan football as frustrated referees plan to boycott weekend matchesFollowing meetings between the nine club chairmen, the teams are urging CS Amina to immediately postpone all the upcoming league fixtures until such a date that all the stakeholders shall meet to chart the way forward.The four conditions the clubs are asking to be met before the league can resume include resolution of all pending matchday disputes and an update of all table of standings as a consequence of the same.Status of all first leg and second leg matches that have remained unplayed so far, payment of monies owed to referees and lastly appointment of members of Referees Appointment, Leagues and Competitions, Disciplinary and Appeals Committees.There has been a huge refereeing conundrum in the second tier with match officials boycotting several matches due to alleged non-payment of their dues.Controversy rages as ‘strangers’ officiate NSL tie pitting SS Assad and Migori YouthA number of matches are also yet to be played with Murang’a Seal the most affected with the Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee rendering their home ground ‘unsafe’ to host league games.”It would only make sense that all the leagues are postponed until we have a clear direction on the status of Kenyan football. The more these issues in all the leagues accumulate the more difficult it will be to resolve them and move forward.” Zoo FC Chairman Ken Ochieng told Mozzart Sport. The Sports CS Amina Mohamed was set to issue a way forward with regard to football in the country on Thursday 12 May after a power vacuum was created following the expiring of the Caretaker Committee’s mandate.
