Mwalala lauds Homeboyz players despite recent bad run

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala says the playing unit deserves a pat on the back for the performance they have displayed in the 2021-2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.Homeboyz, sit at the apex of the log with 56 points, one ahead of defending champions Tusker who have incredibly reduced the eleven-point gap between them and the former that existed a couple of weeks ago to a point.Warm-Ups:Kick-Off vs Tusker, 3pm. pic.twitter.com/nC0SAEz6P8— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) May 8, 2022 Mwalala, while assessing the performance the team has posted thus far said, the players had punched above their weights and thus, it was only fair to praise them rather than slamming them for the recent run of results.Homeboyz, haven’t celebrated a win in the last five rounds, having lost to Tusker and drawn the other four matches, twice against Sofapaka, away to Kenya Police and against Wazito.Mwalala, said the experience in the team and the number of kilometers they have been covering to honor away matches are some of the challenges that have cost them points in the season but tipped his charges to finish strongly.”I think my players deserve praises and accolades for the results garnered so far in the season. I have seen people criticizing and much it is within their right, I have different thoughts. Homeboyz, Bullets, Bandari, Nzoia and Ulinzi are the only teams who understand what it takes to honor an away match, ” he said.Full Time:Kakamega Homeboyz 1-1 WazitoSunday Mutuku ’50 pic.twitter.com/9P9ATb0Ipr— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) May 1, 2022 He added “We travel hundreds of kilometers for matches and this has had an effect in as far as fatigue is concerned. We only have two players in the team who have ever won the league unlike our closest challengers who understand how to handle difficult situations. However, I believe we will finish well, ” he explained. From child labour to football stardom – This is Moses Mudavadi’s storyWith five matches remaining in the season, the former Bandari tactician told his charges to employ the tactics and approach they had in the first five duels of the season.”I have instructed the boys to forget about the past five matches and instead focus on the remaining ones. There is an approach we had in the first five matches of the season that worked to fruition. If we execute it, we will certainly, bag as many points as possible in the remainder of the season, ” he said.
