Following their victory, Vihiga have already moved on to their next target, which is winning the league unbeaten in the remaining four matches. “It has been a tough season and lifting the title is a reward for all the hard work from everyone in the team. We came into the Zetech match needing victory as we did not want to delay this further so it was a hight pressure match. I am happy the players kept their calm to the last whistle,” said Nyamunyamu in an interview. The side lost the services of some key players mid-season including goal poachers Terry Engesha and Gentrix Shikangwa as well as shot stopper Lilian Awuor. However, that did not stop the side that is now going after an unbeaten run. “Their exit was not so much a loss for us as it was a motivation for the rest of the squad to do well locally and land such opportunities as the game is not well paying locally. Even if we were to see more players making professional moves from the current squad, we would be happy as we know we can nurture more players,” said Nyamunyamu. The tactician says he learned alot from Alimira while serving as his assistant and many of the lessons have helped him guide the team to dethroning Thika Queens. “I keenly observed how he handled all training and recovery sessions. How he handled each match and more importantly his interpersonal skills with the players. This has played a big part in our success even now,” Nyamunyamu revealed.
