For a second season in a row, heavyweights Township Rollers, home to Kenyan international Ovella Ochieng’ will not have the chance of popping champagnes and indulging in end of season title celebrations as they are certainly set to miss out on the 2021/2022 Botswana Premier League title. With two games to go before the top-flight season wraps up, Gaborone United were crowned league champions for the first time in thirteen years after they opened a mathematically insurmountable seven point gap to Rollers who sit in second place on the log table having accumulated 63 points from twenty eight games.Last season, Jwaneng Galaxy were crowned champions for the very first time due to being at the top of the table when the novel coronavirus pandemic forced the season to be prematurely halted with ten games to play. Before that, Rollers, who are the most decorated football club from Botswana with 16 titles, had dominated the league, winning five titles on the spin in five seasons from 2013-14 to 2018-19. However, for the last three years, the club has struggled to make their mark. The pacy Ovella joined the club back in January 2022 on a reported one year contract from South Africa’s Marumo Gallants where he was not registered, and thus did not accrue any minutes with the club.”Township Rollers FC wishes to announce the signing of Ovella Ochieng on a 1 year contract.
