AFC Leopards have received slightly over Sh5 million from the sale of midfielder Collins Shichenje to Swedish club AIK.The lanky midfielder who can also play in central defence completed his move to AIK on 1st April and signed a four-year deal with the club. Before his move he was in his second stint at the den and the flexibility of the contract he signed allowed him to move anytime he got an offer oversees. His exit, coupled with Marvin Nabwire and Daniel Musamali’s departure to join the Kenya Police force left Ingwe light in the middle of the park and that has been evident in some of their recent games. They however have something to smile about on the financial front after AIK wired some to Ingwe’s account days before the player was officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday evening. A source from the club has disclosed that the club got just over five million from the sale.AFC Leopards midfielder Collins Shichenje has joined Swedish top tier side, AIK. It is a boost for the club because it will help us offset some debts like the ones we have with players who took us to FIFA and also pay our local creditors,” the source revealed. This is the latest windfall for Ingwe who their fortunes on the financial front has been improving in recent weeks. After a difficult 2020/21 season where they lost 17 players due to financial challenges, they are now able to pay their players comfortably. A fortnight ago President Uhuru Kenyatta gave the club Sh12 million after the Mashemeji Derby. Their arch rivals Gor Mahia got a similar amount.
