Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano wants the current football stalemate being witnessed in the country brought to an end as it is hurting stakeholders, the players in particular. On Thursday, Kenya was expelled from the 2023 African Cup of Nations to mark what has been turbulent six months for football in the country. It started with the disbandment of FKF by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed in November 2021 and the appointment of a Caretaker Committee to run football activities in the country, the committee metamorphosed into a transition committee a week ago.During this period, Kenya missed out on African Women Cup of Nations qualification, they are set to miss the Cecafa Women Championship in Uganda and the biggest of them all is the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers that start in a fortnight.Matano, a veteran football coach has now weighed into the matter following Harambee Stars’ expulsion on Thursday and has called on the stalemate to be resolved as soon as possible. He went on to question the importance of the transition committee-run league. He further hopes that the decision to kick Kenya out can be reversed.“Even in the Premier League, what are we playing for? This is a very bad thing to happen to any country because the players cannot be developed, they cannot be exposed to foreign clubs. I do not know if it’s too late but if there is something that can be done it should be done urgently, “Matano told PD.The transition committee is expected to oversee football activities for the next five weeks after which the CS will decide her next cause of action.
