Former Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech appeared to aim a dig at the sports ministry over the ongoing football wrangles in the country that resulted to Kenya being expelled from the African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday.CAF reached a decision to expel Kenya from the qualifiers as the nation remains suspended by FIFA over government interference. One of the conditions issued by the African football governing body to the country when they released the fixtures was to ensure that the suspension is lifted two weeks before match day one, Harambee Stars were set to play Cameroon in the first game. The government refused to bow to FIFA’s demand of restoring the hounded FKF and went ahead to appoint a transition committee when the Caretaker Committee’s term came to an end. This in turn all but ended Kenya’s chances of returning to the continental scene.Respect Dennis Oliech. That man is a LEGEND. 👑#BetterTogether— Eric (@amerix) April 14, 2021 On Thursday when news of Kenya’s expulsion went public, Oliech, who has part of the Kenya team at the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia weighed in on the issue saying footballers should be let to handle football matters. He predicted that more teams would to the Mathare United way after the team got relegated for failing to honour three matches in a row due to financial struggles.“He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches the most. I talked about it unfortunately it fell on deaf ears. Now it is MUFC going under, and more are coming. Football matters should be left to footballers,” he posted on Facebook.Confirmed: Kenya set to be kicked out of AFCON qualifiersIn an earlier interview, Oliech, who is regarded as one of Kenya’s best ever players ha urged sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed to include ex footballers in football’s management committees.
