Muyoti lauds industrious left back Mungai

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has lauded left-back Herit Mungai for the progress he has made and for making the left-back position competitive.Mungai started the season as an understudy to Dennis Wanjala but an injury to the former Nzoia Sugar man paved way for the ex Posta Rangers and Kariobangi Sharks to shine and he has not looked back. He has featured in the last nine games for Simba wa Nairobi and after recovering from the injury, Wanjala has had to settle for a place on the subs bench. He continues to impress down the left flank and the tactician is impressed by how competitive his left side of defence is competitive as he has two dependable players at his disposal.”Herit yearns for more..”Left-back Herit Mungai Atariza is looking forward to clocking more starts, and full minutes, after being actively involved in the last four Premier League games for Nairobi City Stars#CityStars #KPL pic.twitter.com/GhkG4acxpU— Official Nairobi City Stars Fc (@NrbCityStars) April 15, 2022 “This is one of the reasons I say that injuries should not affect us. We have players, we have given him a chance and he has shown what he can do. If anything for example happens to Wanjala you know that you can count on Mungai and vice versa,” he stated. With City Stars having numerous injuries heading into the final phase of the season, Muyoti wants the available players to step up and fill the void left by the sidelined key players like Oliver Maloba, Peter Opiyo, and Steve Njunge.“This is what you need around a squad, when a player goes out the one replacing him should be able to deliver. In the top-flight, if you cannot replace a player who is out with an injury or suspension then you’ll be in trouble. We have a big pool of players and we should be able to remain competitive even when we have injuries,” he added.City Stars will take on KCB at the Karani Annex on Saturday afternoon.
