FC Talanta players had boycotted training for two days before their match against AFC Leopards on Saturday which they lost in the last minute at the Nyayo National Stadium. The Ken Kenyatta-led team had fought from two goals down in the second half to draw 2-2 before Victor Omune scored his second of the game in stoppage time to win it 3-2 for Ingwe. Tedian Esilaba scored the other Leopards goal while Brian Yakhama and Kevintom Machika found the back of the net for Kenyatta’s men.Heading to the game, however, Talanta’s in-house problems denied them adequate preparations. The players had downed tools and missed their final two days of training due to salary arrears. They have not received their March and April dues in addition to bonuses that have equally not been settled.“We did not train on Thursday and Friday because of salary issues. We have not been paid our salaries for two months, there are also bonuses arrears. The office has been making promises which they are yet to fulfill,” a source from the club told Mozzart Sport.Full-timeAFC Leopards 3-2 FC TalantaThat was some good match.#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/M7JlXUFz3o— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) May 21, 2022 In his post-match interview on Saturday, Kenyatta revealed that indeed they had not prepared for the game against Ingwe but refused to disclose the reason for players skipping training.“For the last three days we have not trained, until today’s game, we just showed up for the match, we played this game without training. This is because there were some technicalities that I cannot discuss in public, those are in-house issues and they are beyond me but the truth is you cannot win a match without training, what you do in training is what you show on a match day. But we have lost and we now focus on our game, this is behind us, it is history,” he told Mozzart Sport.
