Bunyore plotting WPL survival

Relegation-threatened Bunyore Starlets are on a difficult mission to escape the chop and have everything to play for in the remaining three matches if they are to remain in the Women Premier League (WPL).@FKF_WPL results Ulinzi Starlets 4 – 0 @Kisumu_Starlets @gaspow_fc 2 – 1 Bunyore Starlets.Kangemi Ladies 0 – 5 @Vihigaqueens Nakuru Queens 1- 0 Kayole Starlets— Matheka (@Lynmatheka) May 21, 2022 Team Manager (TM) Zachariah Amakhang’a is confident the league debutants have what it takes to dig themselves out of the hole that an unimpressive second leg plunged them in the remaining matches. “We have not won any away matches this season and our performance at home in the second leg was also wanting. However, in the remaining matches, two being at home, we are aiming to change the narrative,” Amakhang’a offered. WPL: Draws galore as Thika Queens miss second placeThe side welcomes Zetech Sparks to Mumboha Stadium next weekend where they target maximum points before playing relegated Kangemi Ladies in Nairobi. The side will then conclude the season at home against champions elect Vihiga Queens. “We played for a draw away to Sparks but they have improved massively in the second leg of the season. We expect a tough match but we will fight for victory at home. We need at least four points to have a realistic chance at survival,” added the TM.The Vihiga-based side has, however, been dealt a blow following the injury of three key players among them Susan Malda who has been key to their scoring and dependable defender Floice Ambuso. “Malda sustained a knee injury in our clash away to Kisumu All Starlets and after a two-week rest she tried to get back but it was evident she was not fully fit to and we might be forced to sit her out for the remaining three matches which is a big blow. The others are also a doubt. We will, however, work with those available,” he further said. The team manager said that financial constraints had contributed to the team’s slump in form especially in the second half of the season.
