After a years of stability, there is a turmoil in Bayern Munich. For the first time since he arrived in 2014, team’s star Robert Lewandowski wants to leave the club, and the openly admitted so. Bayern were caught off guard. He used to muddy the waters before, when he was about to negotiate the extension and get more money, but it was all prepared ’drama’. This time it’s for real. The Bavarians now have two choices: to make him play another year and lose him on free agency in 2023, or hope that they will change his mind in a year or so (see: Kylian Mbappe) or to sell him now, and look for a replacement in a hurry. A 40 goals per season striker is hard to find. Lewa will earn less in Barca, Bayern will get 40 millionSo, the Bavarians are tempted to sell him to Barcelona (and that is where he wants to go) but in the meantime, they are still giving statements he’s going to stay. They just cannot cope with the situation, they are annoyed that the focus of the media is on them 24/7, and for the reasons they don’t like. And the German media are clever, they know who to call to get the right information. Uli Hoeness is a club’s legend, a former player and a president, a man who thinks that he is Bayern Munich. During his time, situation with players, contracts, free agency was much, much different and he is very annoyed by the situation. He is an influential board member, so when he talks, everybody listens.Uli Hoeneß: “Robert has a contract. At the moment, nobody at Bayern will let Lewandowski out of this contract. We obviously haven’t found a replacement so far, so our opinion is clear” [@RTL_com] pic.twitter.com/ki5vZOqHWg— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) May 23, 2022 And he talked (again), this time for RTL. Hoeness likes to talk to the media and give his opinion, not aware that his words are not nessesarelly what the management will do in the end. So, his idea for Lewandowski is to make him honor his contract. „Robert has a contract. At the moment, nobody at Bayern will let Lewandowski out of this contract. We obviously haven’t found a replacement so far, so our opinion is clear. If he stays, plays well and continue to feel comfortable in Germany with his family, maybe he will come in January and say: Wow, I like it so much here, maybe I’ll stay two or three more years” said Hoeness.Zahavi: Bayern did not lose a player called ‘Lewandowski’ but a man called ‘Robert’Former Bayern president has no dilemma when it comes to reasons why Lewandowski wants out – money. The doesn’t by into the stories about ’lack of appreciation’, which was mentioned in the case of Lewa and Sule, who also left as a free agent, after Alaba. Also, he really hates the situation in which media is writing about another problem: Gnabry’s contract issues. „Appreciation means money, at 99%. With Alaba it was only about money, with Sule only about money. It’s the same situation as with Lewa. He has a great offer from Bayern and must decide now. You, the media, are driving me crazy with this free transfer thing. What do you want? Do you want to fill these players with money until they say yes or maybe choke off” said annoyed Hoeness. Hoeness defends Brazzo and mocks Dortmund’s transfers: ‘Enough for the second place’Bayern’s board member is specially annoyed by the fact that a Spanish club, in debt for years, is making an offer for a player from Bayern, a German giant with all financial books in order.„Barcelona want to have Lewandowski while they had a 1.3 billion euros debt six months ago. In Germany they would’ve been bankrupt for a long time. 1.3 billion debt, the bankruptcy judge is at the door and they’re making a X-million offer to a Bayern player“ said Hoeness.
