NSL: Naivas suffer bitter football lessons in the hands of Murang’a Seal

Despite suffering the heaviest defeat of the season, Naivas FC head coach Jeff Maina has expressed optimism in redemption when they face log leaders Fortune Sacco this weekend. The shoppers were on the receiving end of Murang’a Seal’s wrath on Wednesday as they fell 4-0 at St. Sébastian Park, a loss that certainly dents their hopes of catching up with Fortune and the second placed APs Bomet.Naivas who were coming from a 1-0 defeat suffered in the hands of MCF now trail the two top teams by ten points but Maina believes that they will shave the gap to seven when they take on Fortune.”The two successive defeats are regretted but it does not mean that I am under pressure to inspire the team back to winning ways. We will do our best and win our next game against Fortune,” he said. The tactician faulted individual mistakes for the heavy loss in Murang’a and fatigue for the two back to back defeats.” Seal punished us for our mistakes. We played well in the first half but lack of communication in the defence in the second half saw us concede very cheap goals. The games are spaced within a very short time but I’ll try my best to have the boys ready for the Fortune game, ” he added.Seal got of the marks through former FC Talanta and Posta Rangers forward Brian Juma before Wilson Kamau adding a brace to put the result beyond the reach of the visitors.Former Modern Coast Rangers midfielder John Mwita put the icing on the cake in the final minutes of the game.Elsewhere, Coastal Heroes enhanced their chances of surviving relegation after narrowly edging SS Assad 1-0 at Serani grounds.Khamis Aboud made the difference in the game after finding the back of the net in the 81st minute.
