Michelle Wie West will transition away from competitive golf after she plays in next week’s U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles. Wie West told Golfweek that she also plans to compete in the Women’s Open at Pebble Beach in 2023, but otherwise has no other further plans to tee it up on the LPGA.
The 32-year-old former prodigy and mother of Makenna has had one of the most colorful and scrutinized careers in LPGA history, having taken a non-traditional path of playing so many events against men. Wie West won twice on the LPGA while getting her degree from Stanford, a feat that gives her a great deal of pride.
