„I’m gonna turn down any proposal. I will stay here at Roma even if there are rumours. We made history today“ said Jose Mourinho rigth after last night’s win in the Conference League finals in Albania against Feyenoord. This was his fifth European final, and he won all of them: two Champions Leagues (Porto, Inter), Uefa Cup (Porto), Europa League (Manchester United) and now Conference League (Roma). After prevailing in one of the most boring European finals in recent years, the Portuguese will not look to strengthen his squad for the new season, in which the Champions League spot will be expected. But unlike Mourinho, there are players who didn’t turn down proposals and will not stay in Roma. Henrikh Mkhitaryan will leave the Eternal city as a free agent and will join Inter Milan, according to the reports.Mkhitaryan to #Inter is done. The player has chosen not to renew with Roma and will sign a 2-year deal with #Inter earning €3.5M. Medical examinations will take place soon. [via @CorSport]— Inter Xtra (@Inter_Xtra) May 26, 2022 Il Corriere dello Sport among others report Mkhitaryan has told Roma he will not be extending his contract which expires on June 30 and will instead move to Inter. The reports suggest he will sign a two-year contract worth 3.5 million euros net per year and will undergo a medical once he has recovered from the thigh injury which saw him withdrawn against Feyenoord after just 17 minutes. But Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims that while the deal seems to be all but over, Roma is preparing a last minute counter offer for the Armenian, and will present him their proposal by the end of Thursday.(2.50) AUXERRE (3.00) SAINT-ETIENNE (2.95)It remains to be seen if Mkhitaryan will have a change of heart or will go to Inter. Following 18 months at Arsenal, he joined Roma in 2019 and has made 116 appearances, scoring 29 goals. This season he was reunited with his former Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho with whom he didn’t have an ideal relationship at Old Trafford, but he played good under the Portuguese this season, and he agreed that the Armenian should stay in Rome. But, Inter were quicker in their offer and now it seems that Mourinho will look for another playmaker in the upcoming transfer window.
