Victor Wanyama’s CF Montreal ended their two-game losing streak in the Major Soccer League (MLS) with a 4-3 triumph over Cincinnati in the wee hours of Sunday morning.Montreal had lost their last two games to Nashville SC and Real Salt Lake and were desperate to return to winning ways against the visitors at the Stade Saputo.The match started on a positive note for the visitors when Junior Moreno gave them a 12th-minute lead. The joy lasted for ten minutes before Montreal hit back through Joel Waterman who converted off a corner kick. In the 45th minute, Romell Quioto profited from calamitous goalkeeping to give the home side a 2-1 lead. Montreal took a narrow lead to the interval.A minute into the second stanza, things got worse for the visitors when Mathieu Choinière scored the third. Alvaro Barreal reduced the deficit six minutes later with Cincinnati’s second of the game. A minute before the hour mark, Montreal won a penalty which Quioto converted for a 4-2 lead. Moreno made in 4-3 in the 63rd minute to ensure there a tense finish to the game but Montreal managed to secure the points in the end.Les sourires de la victoire! Playing against them is always challenging and physical. They’ve improved so much and it was tough today,” Wanyama said after the game.Montreal will play Austin FC after the international break.
