Egyptian giants, Al Ahly are on the cusp of bagging a third consecutive CAF Champions League title when they come up against Algeria’s Wydad Casablanca on Monday evening in Morocco. The Pitso Mosimane led team has won the last two editions of the competitions and have a record ten titles to their name. The South African tactician has three to his name having bagged one with Mamelodi Sundowns and on Monday evening he will be out to add another accolade.Standing between them and an eleventh title is Wydad, who have two titles to their name. The last time they won the CAF Champions League title was in 2017. Coincidentally they beat Al Ahly 2-1 on aggregate to secure the title. The last time they met was in 2017 where the Red Devils saw of Wydad both home and away.Unbelievable Support ❤️#AfricaYaAhly pic.twitter.com/gQG1Tus0Ub— Al Ahly SC 🇬🇧 (@AlAhlyEnglish) May 29, 2022 Wydad will be hoping that their home advantage count. The final is being played in Morocco and they could enjoy some massive home backing. Al Ahly’s efforts to have the final moved away from Morocco proved futile as they were rebuffed by CAF.Mosimane is looking forward to bagging another title to his name, he termed making it to a third final in a row as an honour and wants his side to see off Wydad.“It’s an honour, a privilege and its historical for our club to make a third cup final in a row because we have never made it. Even though we had made a lot of cup finals but we had never made it three times in a row. As much as it is important for the history of the club, we are not really fixated in that, we are fixated in the match,” he said.“Because what is the point of making the third final in a row and you don’t win it? Our mind is not on that, our mind is on winning the cup final. Of course we acknowledge that we have made the third cup final in a row and it’s a big step because no team does that,”.الاستعدادات مستمرة بمركب محمد بنجلون .. ⚪️🔴#85Years#اكسيرالحياة pic.twitter.com/adgM52VlZp— Wydad Athletic Club (@WACofficiel) May 7, 2022 Wydad coach, Walid Regragui appeared to pile pressure on the Red Devils by terming them as favorites for the accolade“If they win, they will be heroes who won the title in Casablanca, but if they lose it will be out of their hands as they played the final in Morocco. Al Ahly are favorites to win the title, they are more experienced and they have history on their side. If we win, we will be very happy, especially since we didn’t make any transfers. We will fight for the title, we will do everything we can to win,” he said. The match will kick off at 10 PM EAT.
