Sofapaka’s rookie custodian Masaka earns glowing praise

Sofapaka FC head coach David Ouma has heaped praise on goalkeeper Simon Masaka after his heroics in goal against Vihiga Bullets on Saturday afternoon at the Kasarani Annex.Masaka, third in the pecking order got a rare chance between the posts against the relegation battling Bullets and he put in a good show particularly in the second half and helped his side pick three points from the game. The custodian is behind Kevin Omondi and Peter Odhiambo in order of priority at Batoto ba Mungu.The former Soy United keeper has been with Sofapaka for two years now but is yet to establish himself at the club. He has been playing bit-part role at Batoto ba Mungu. His good show on Saturday however earned him praise from his coach who said that the youngster earned his chance for the good work he has been doing in training.“He is a young lad, and he’s been working hard in training, and his determination earned him the starting role on Saturday. The team had managed just four clean sheets in the last 15 games and he is glad that they stopped Bullets from scoring on Saturday.“We have been winning in our recent matches, but we have been conceding too. Saturday’s result is a huge plus for us and gives me the confidence as a coach that we are finally getting it right,”.Their final two games are against Bandari and Ulinzi Stars and the former Harambee Starlets coach wants to end the season on a high.“We have taken time to develop our game and this we have achieved as we are able to exercise confidence and play with a lot of calm.
