FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards has been slapped with a two-window transfer ban over failure to pay former captain Soter Kayumba his dues, Mozzart Sport can report. This is the third time Ingwe is finding itself on the wrong side of FIFA over a case involving the Rwandan international. The first was in March 2021 when they were barred from signing players until they settled all his dues. The two parties agreed on a payment plan which later the player complained that Ingwe had reneged on, resulting to another transfer embargo in February 2022 but Ingwe were later allowed to register players by the FKF Caretaker Committee. It is the decision to register their mid-season acquisitions; John Makwata, Cliff Nyakeya, Victor Omune, Musa Oundo, and Josphat Lopaga that has returned to haunt Ingwe as the player filed a fresh complaint with FIFA after the new signing started to play for Leopards in March.Kayumba joined Leopards in July 2019 from Sofapaka on an initial loan deal that was made permanent at the end of the season. Last November, Gor Mahia was slapped with sanctions, they will be able to recruit players again in January 2023.“We have received communication from FIFA over the same, we will not be in a position to recruit players for the next two transfer windows. It is definitely a big blow but we will see how best to manage the situation,” a club official told Mozzart Sport.##NAJAVA_MECA_6438960##The ban is a massive blow for coach Patrick Aussems who in an earlier interview said the club needed to make a few additions to compete for the title next season.“I again urge the management to keep or 80% of these players and to bring on board three or four more players and for sure next season we will play for the title,” the former Simba SC coach said. The ban comes barely three days since AFC Leopards lost their sponsorship deal with betting firm Betsafe. The company announced the termination of its contract with Ingwe and Gor Mahia with a year left in the deal. It cited tough financial times for opting out.
