Rueful Mwalala castigates Talanta for boycotting fixture against Homeboyz

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala says his team was left disappointed with FC Talanta’s decision to boycott Sunday’s league action against his charges at the Ruaraka saying it denied his team a chance to get goals that could prove vital in this season’s title race.Talanta players refused to honour their Sunday league action over salary arrears. The players have not been paid for the last three months and the club is yet to settle bonus arrears dating back to last season when the team was still in the National Super League.##NAJAVA_MECA_6436933##Homeboyz are tied at 60 points with Tusker FC heading into the final game of the season this coming Sunday but the Brewers have a five-goal advantage in goal-difference, an edge that could win them the title if both teams win their last games. Tusker are up against Posta Rangers while Homeboyz host Kariobangi Sharks. The Homeboyz coach believes Talanta’s no-show denied his team a chance to close in on Tusker in terms of goal-difference.”People may think that we are happy with the walkover but we were all dejected because we wanted to have that opportunity to reduce that goal-difference. Tusker have a superior goal-difference and a fighting chance on the pitch would have given us an opportunity to fight and I believe that with the preparation and confidence the players had, we would have scored goals. For us it is a blow, a walkover should never be issued at this stage of the season in a game that could determine the league winner, the league managers should ensure that thus does not recur,” he told Mozzart Sport.BREAKING: Talanta FC dish walk over….against Who? Kakamega Homeboyz ….🤔🤔🤔. Now Tusker MUST win against BIDCO!! Meanwhile….Gor have a game in hand against Talanta. Wuuuueeeh….!!!!— @MikeOkinyi HSC (@MikeOkinyi) June 5, 2022 Despite the race being literally out of their hands, Mwalala remains positives. He adds that they are going to give their best against Sharks and hope that things go their way elsewhere.”We have a match against Sharks at home, that’s a game we must win. We will prepare well for the game, and try to score as many as we can. Our focus will not be much on the Tusker game but of course anything can happen there and tilt the tie to our advantage. However, we want to do our best and see what happens at the end of Sunday,”.
