National championships are over and in Europe, UEFA Nations League is in full swing. In Group A4, just days after qualifying for the World Cup, Wales were playing against Holland. The Welshmen scored a late equalizer in injury time, only to see Wout Weghorst score the winner two minutes later. And it didn’t sit well with Burnley’s Connor Roberts, who assisted for the Wales goal, only to see his teammate Weghorst score after a great header.Connor Roberts after Weghorst’s last minute winner: “Why couldn’t you do that for Burnley?” Weghorst: “This isn’t about Burnley. Shut up.”pic.twitter.com/oS1fTg21by— Not Match of the Day (@NOT_MOTD) June 9, 2022 The Welshman approached the Dutchman after the goal and asked him ‘Why didn’t you do that for Burnley?’, to which Weghorst replied ‘This isn’t about Burnley, shut up.’ The Dutchman was that big money move for the Clarets in the January transfer window, after they lost Chris Wood to Newcastle, but he didn’t do much. Weghorst appeared in 20 matches, and scored only two goals, along with three assists. Too little for a striker, as number of players, many of them defenders, scored more for Burnley in a season in which they relegated on the last game of the season.21.45: (1.48) Netherlands (4.50) Poland (7.75)A massive overhaul is expected in the club, since many of first team players officially left the club. Ben Mee, Aaron Lennon, Phil Bardsley, Dale Stephens and Erik Pieters are among a total of 14 professionals to depart the Club this month, and Weghorst is soon to follow them. The Dutchman“My future won’t be next year in Burnley. I won’t go into the Championship – not that I feel too good for it, absolutely not. I am just really ambitious and also it’s about the national team. There are some options for me in a higher potential of league than the Championship. I have to take the chances offered there. We will see what the future will bring. I really hope they will return directly to the Premier League. I don’t feel I have been that successful in England so far” said Weghorst. Connor Roberts won’t mind to see his back.
