Kakamega Homeboyz are likely to get another walkover on Sunday after their final day opponents Kariobangi Sharks gave a hint that they will not be traveling to Bukhungu for the match.Last week, Homeboyz got three free points without breaking a sweat after their hosts FC Talanta failed to show up for the game that was to be staged at the Ruaraka Grounds, this was in protest of monies owed to them in salary and bonuses. The team however showed up for Thursday’s league action against Gor Mahia and are set to play City Stars on Sunday.##NAJAVA_MECA_6447800##Meanwhile, Sharks, who have already issued one walkover this season have hinted that they will not be heading to Kakamega. The team failed to show up for the game against AFC Leopards in May and they look certain to miss the Bukhungu duel.Apart from not releasing their next game program which has been the norm, the William Muluya-led team issued their week-long training schedule that indicates the team will have a friendly game on Saturday at the Utalii Grounds in Nairobi before taking a rest on Sunday, the supposed Match Day.This is a big blow to Kakamega Homeboyz who already have an inferior goal difference to the Brewers. Tusker boast of a +5 advantage and any form of a win over Posta on Sunday will hand them the title.First walkover against Talanta Fc, and now against KSharks this weekend… Kakamega Homeboyz have had it easy in their last fixtures— OmondiWinston (@Itiswinny) June 10, 2022 Homeboyz coach Bernard Mwalala has lamented Talanta’s decision to boycott last weekend’s match saying it dealt them a blow as they were ready to reduce the goals gap between them and the Robert Matano-led team.”People may think that we are happy with the walkover but we were all dejected because we wanted to have that opportunity to reduce that goal difference. Tusker have a superior goal advantage and a fighting chance on the pitch would have given us an opportunity to fight and I believe that with the preparation and confidence the players had, we would have scored goals. For us it is a blow, a walkover should never be issued at this stage of the season in a game that could determine the league winner, the league managers should ensure that this does not recur, ” Mwalala said.
