Kariobangi Sharks dismiss conspiracy theories surrounding Homeboyz clash forfeiture

Kariobangi Sharks chairman Robert Maoga has explained why they will not be honoring their Sunday league action against Kakamega Homeboyz at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega.Sharks were set to face title hopefuls Homebozy in Mumias but the match will not be played as Sharks did not travel to Kakamega and Homeboyz, who are tied at 60 points with league leaders Tusker FC but with an inferior goal difference will be hoping that the Brewers slip in their games against Posta Rangers at Ruraka.##NAJAVA_MECA_6450147##Maoga has now explained that the club made a decision not to travel for away games three weeks ago. The team already issued a walkover to AFC Leopards and according to the Sharks boss, they do not see the need of spending much money on road yet they have not settled the players’ salaries.“We made the decision not to honour all away matches three weeks ago after the AFC Leopards walkover. How can we spend Sh400,000 yet the boys have not been paid their salaries? It’s unfortunate there is a tie at the top but there is nothing we can do,” Maoga told the Standard.AFC Leopards get a walkover. He pointed at conspiracy but Maoga has downplayed Shimanyula’s claims saying they cannot conspire against the Kakamega-based club.“We can’t conspire against Homeboyz because they are the ones getting the points. Sadly, there’s a lot of lawlessness in the league and that’s why teams are doing things knowing they will get away with it,” he added.K.K Homeboyz are likely to get another walkover on Sunday after their final day opponents Kariobangi Sharks gave a hint that they will not be traveling to Bukhungu for the match.#kefootball pic.twitter.com/7yo3dDdZsn— Kefootball_ (@Kefootball1) June 11, 2022 With the league coming to an end, a number of cases remain unresolved. Two matches involving Ulinzi Stars vs Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars vs AFC Leopards were never played due to what the visiting teams said were the unavailability of a well-equipped ambulance, the cases are yet to be resolved by the FKF Transition Committee.Another two cases invlocing Gor Mahia are yet to be decided; the aborted match against Vihiga Bullets is pending and another case involves Wazito in which the later accuses the record league champions of fielding an ineligible player against them, this equally remains unresolved and Maoga, these cases dent the credibility of the league that in recent weeks has been rocked with match-fixing allegations.“There are still five unresolved cases in the league. A lot will come to be questioned in this league. The threshold of proving match-fixing is very high and needs collaboration between Fifa, teams, federation and the players. At the moment, all these stakeholders are not on the same page thus giving leeway for match-fixing. With no broadcasters, the environment allowed match-fixers to thrive,” he added.Sunday’s walkover means Sharks will be deducted a further three points.
