Torreira slams Fiorentina as he has to come back to Arsenal

It’s not a nice feeling when you are not wanted. Every footballer comes to a certain club feeling wanted and is eager to cement his place in the starting 11, but it doesn’t always happen that way. And some players, Lucas Torreira included, have a difficult situation where they are not wanted not in one, but two clubs. The Uruguayan midfielder just finished a great season in Fiorentina but lived to see the club refusing to pay the agreed fee to Arsenal, and he is set to return to North London, where he is also unwanted. He needs to find a new club as soon as possible.Fiorentina got £65m for Vlahovic, 3 months later came to Arsenal begging for Torreira🙄I cannot stand Serie A clubs😑 pic.twitter.com/gbXafKudkU— UpYourArsenal🔴⚪🔴⚪♥️ (@UPYOURARSENAL04) June 15, 2022 During the 2021/22 season in Serie A, a loaned Torreira played his best football in a Fiorentina jersey. 35 appearances in all competitions and five goals in total (which is quite good, considering he is a defensive midfielder) were one of the reasons that the club from Tuscany finished in 7th place and will play in the Europa Conference League next season. But apparently, even that wasn’t enough to persuade Fiorentina brass to pay up and secure Torreira on a permanent deal. The deal with Arsenal was that La Viola will pay 14.5 million euros for the Uruguayan if they want to have him, but Fiorentina tried do negotiate the deal and lower the price too much. The Gunners were firm, and the deal is now off.WED: 20.00: (2.50) GIMNASIA J. (2.85) RACING CORDOBA (3.05)Both parties are to blame here. Fiorentina, who tried to lower the price to almost half, and then decided to let go a player who was a first team regular, and Arsenal who knew that coach Mikel Arteta doesn’t want him, and yet insisted on a price which will hardly be paid by someone else. Apart from that, Torreira has only one year left on his contract and it seems strange that somebody else (apart from being desperate) would give over 14 million for a player who will be a free agent in 2023. The Uruguayan midfielder will be back in North London to start the preseason, but a sale or another loan is definitely on the cards. Since the Gunners rejected Fiorentina’s 7 million offer, it’s reasonable to believe that if another club offers 8 millions and more, the deal could be struck.Arsenal got a new Martinelli? FIFA helped the Gunners sign a Brazilian low-cost teenagerThe player himself was more than disappointed at the club’s decision not to buyout his contract from Arsenal, and used his farewell message to Fiorentina fans to express his feelings towards the Italian club.„Dear “Tifosi” from ACF Fiorentina. Unfortunately, the time has come to say goodbye. It is with great sadness that my relationship with ACF Fiorentina ends. Club that gave me so much love and support all this time. From the beginning they made me feel at home. I discovered a wonderful city that was always kind to me, both on and off the pitch. They always showed me affection, respect and for that, I will always be grateful. Thanks to his trust I was able to find the continuity and level I wanted. I owe that to my teammates and all the fans who gave us energy game by game. Know that I always left everything on the field of play for these colours. Special thanks to all the club staff; cooks, props, manager, physiotherapist and security. They are the fundamental piece for the functioning of this institution. Know that I did my best to continue being part of this club, but unfortunately there were those who, acting in a bad way, according to my understanding, managed to prevent this from happening and that is why I have to leave. I wish you the best for the future. They will have one more fan cheering from wherever I have to be” said Torreira in his Instagram post.
