Nzoia Sugar FC Chairman Evans Kadenge admits that he could lose some of his current players who have already been approached by other clubs interested in signing them.The Millers finished the season in 14th place after battling the drop for the better part of the season. with the team majorly consisting of youngsters, other clubs were keeping tabs on the millers’ players with the intention of pricing them away from the Bungoma-based club.Among those who stood out are midfielders Boniface Munyendo, Joseph Mwangi, and Kevin Juma, forwards Levis Okello, James Kibande and Felicien Okanda are other players who have impressed and are on the radar of several clubs.Asked if the club has been approached for any players, Kadenge disclosed that no team has officially reached out to them but admitted that the players have been approached privately by some teams.“The players have been approached by other clubs expressing the interest to sign them but no club has officially spoken to us so for now I cannot authoritatively say that such and such a player is leaving but there is initial interest, we will see what happens in the coming weeks,” he told Mozzart Sport.What a way to end the season!! @nzoiasugarfc2 Vs @AFCLeopards .#sweeteningkenyanfootball. @ElvisMukhwana @Nzoiasugar pic.twitter.com/4U60lmQHhS— NZOIASUGARFC (@nzoiasugarfc2) June 12, 2022 Kadenge disclosed that coach Salim Babu is keen on retaining most of the players but says they will not stand in the way of a player who gets a good opportunity elsewhere.“The coach wants to retain most of the players because we do not want to struggle again next season. We want to be competitive. We will try to retain keep our best players but as is the norm we will not stand in the way of a player who gets a lifechanging opportunity, we can always replace any player who exits because we have so many good players from this region who given a chance will perform well,” he added.The millers further take pride in their ex-players thriving elsewhere.“We pride ourselves in giving young players a chance and seeing them thrive out there is something to pride in. When they get a chance to join the police force or the army to secure their futures we are happy for them. Right now we have Mark Bikokwa, Boniface Muchiri, Hillary Simiyu, and Masita Masuta in the army, Daniel Musamali and Bolton Omwenga are in the police force and we are glad to see our ex-players thrive out there, Nzoia Sugar will continue to give young players a chance,” he concluded.
