National Super League (NSL) side Zoo FC has indefinitely called off its remaining matches in the 2021/2022 season with immediate effect citing power vacuum issues in the country following the expiry of tenure of the government installed Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee.On Thursday 16 June 2022, the Aaron Ringera chaired body officially completed the five week period they had been given to steer football matters in the country, meaning that legally, there was no body in charge of running football affairs in the country after the Ministry of Sports through Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed failed to give any further direction since then.And the on form Ggolola and Kiptoo are having the best of their time…More to come!#fcukzoo #magicalkericho #NSL pic.twitter.com/djvx9OCACG— Zoo FC (@zoofootballclub) June 10, 2022 On the back of that recent development, the Kericho based side, who were relegated to the second tier league last season on match fixing allegations, issued a statement saying they will not be playing any of its forthcoming matches owing to the vacuum currently in place with teams not knowing who is in charge of running football affairs.The club also stated that they had tried to seek for information about the same from the government and the Transition Committee but their enquiries fell om deaf ears, leading to their decision.”Cognizant of fact that the FKF Transition Committee’s tenure ended 2 days ago, there not having been any communication therefrom or its appointing authority regarding any extension of its mandate, and on account of the negligence or refusal of the two to respond to our enquiries on who will be in charge of this weekends round of matches, we hereby sadly call off our match against APS Bomet FC and subsequent NSL 2021-2022 season matches until further notice. We shall keep you posted of any new development and are grateful for your continued support,” the club said in a statement.The FKF Transition Committee was set to be in office for five weeks, 35 days, from May 11. The Caretaker Committee had previously been in place since November 2021 when the CS disbanded the Football Kenya Federation. We are not even sure about the legality of the season and there are so many unresolved issues. The Transition Committee’s mandate has ended and they should stop clinging on to the league, it will only complicate matters further,” Migori Youth Chairman Aziz Abdi Osman said.
