Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala has thanked his players for the effort they put in during the 2021/22 season, a season in which they lost the league title to Tusker FC on goal difference. The Kakamega-based side narrowly lost out the title to the Robert Matano-coached team with a rough patch towards the end of the season resulting in them surrendering the league to the Brewers. Both teams ended the season with 63 points but a superior goal difference ensured that Tusker got a second title on the bounce.##NAJAVA_MECA_6459090##Despite the title heartache, Mwalala says he is proud of his charges. He has thanked them for their commitment and fighting spirit throughout the campaign.“I am proud of these players because they fought to the end. It is easy to forget the work they did after the disappointment of missing out on the title but I must recognize the work they did. At the start of the season, no one thought that we would be in the title talks until the final day of the season. We worked as a team, fought for each other, and that short rough run denied us the title but I am still proud of the boys nonetheless, they did a commendable job,” he told Mozzart Sport. Many would point at the pain of the Kakamega-based side missing out on the title that was theirs to lose but for Mwalala, it has been a year of lessons both for him and the team in general. Strong as a Hammer! West Ham are getting a solid centre-back for $30 million“We choose to focus on the positives. Yes we lost the league title but we have learned a lot, we had not been involved in a title race before and we now understand the ups and now on the way to a league title and I believe that they will come in handy in the future. We will prepare ourselves well and try to win it again next season,” he added.
