The football turmoil in the country continues to worsen with each passing day this is after Zoo FC on Sunday 19 June pulled out of the National Super League (NSL) terming it as an illegality in a bare-knuckle statement from the Chairman Ken Ochieng’.This comes barely a day after Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed extended the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee (FKFTC) by two months following the expiry of the initial term earlier this week.Ringera out as government extends FKF Transition Committee’s tenure by two monthsWith the club currently battling its own demons in the name of match-fixing, Zoo cited the league being an illegality among other pressing issues to be behind their decision to pull out of the second tier.“As a club, we have been victims of match manipulation, poor officiating, unfair /delayed findings on our match day protests. We thus deem our continued participation in an already contaminated league at the expense of our unresolved grievances as a waste of time and our hard-earned meager resources in the absence of sponsorship. Technically the said league is a nullity.In view of the above, we hereby immediately withdraw from the FKFTC organized and run NSL 2021 -2022 season. To our dearest and most loyal set of fans and admirers, the dream remains afloat,” read part of the statement from Ochieng’.Zoo becomes the second side in the top two tiers of football in the country to pull out of the league after Mathare United also withdrew from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) citing financial woes they say have been occasioned by poor management of the sport in the country.The Kericho-based side added that they are against the extension of the Transition Committee for a further two months after the government initially installed a Caretaker Committee following the disbandment of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) back in November 2021 on grounds of misappropriation of public funds.Zoo who were relegated from the Premier League in the 2020-2021 season due to match-fixing by FIFA has a pending court case alongside eight other Petitioners to stop the Kenyan football leagues with the suit since attracting 10 other teams from the FKFPL and the FKF Division One have joined the same as Interested Parties.##NAJAVA_MECA_6459511##The club is aggrieved by the governance of football in the country contrary to the FKF Constitution and arbitrary to FKF Rules and Regulations with the leagues being divisive and only appealing to the hearts of the very authors of disorder and only financially benefiting match-fixers who the club says the Transition Committee have no capacity to tame.Zoo however clarified that the team will not fold after the decision and asked their fans to exercise patience as they await the FKF directions on when a FIFA-recognized league will commence.
