Pogba receives hero’s welcome in Guinea

‘Good riddance’ is the phrase Manchester United fans use often these days when somebody mentions Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is about to leave the club as a free agent for the second time in his career, but this time, the total cost of his five year stay will be a staggering 219 million euros. For that amount of money, he participated in 233 games, scored 39 goals and 51 assists and won two trophies (Europa League, League Cup). Not enough. But, there are other parts of Europe and world where he will be greated with great joy. For example, his native France, where the regular French international is a World Cup winner. Or in Turin, where he will probably come back (again) and play for Juventus, as it has been reported during this month. Or in Guinea, where Pogba arrived yesterday and got a hero’s welcome. On the first day of his visit, his words were words of encouragement for Guinea, his parents’ country, after he paraded the streets in the open car.“It is with a very strong feeling that I return to the country. My family is there and frankly I come back and I feel that Guinea has changed. Unfortunately I could not come before with all the competitions, and the Covid pandemic but now I am here. It’s been a long time since I came back here, so we decided to come back to help Guinea to move the country forward. I know that the luck that Allah has given me is to succeed and come back to help my country” said Pogba upon his arrival, as per local press. During his stay, Pogba will feature in a charity match for Guinea and will reportedly meet government officials and sports associations.Thu 03:30: (2.14) Corinthians (3.00) Santos (3.70)
