Leopards boss Shikanda confident of re-election after penning sponsorship pledge

AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda is confident that he will be re elected into office when the club heads to the polls on Sunday to elect a new office that will serve for the next three years. The pharmacist exuded great hope of convincing the electorate to hand him fresh mandate after securing a shirt sponsorship pledge from an unknown company making forays into Kenya’s murky betting market. Shikanda has been in charge of Ingwe for the last three years and is seeking another term at the helm of the Kenyan giants. He faces competition from former club CEO Ronald Namai who is keen on unseating the former Ingwe and Gor Mahia winger.##NAJAVA_MECA_6465758##Other positions that will be contested for are that of Secretary General and treasurer. Current secretary general Oliver Sikuku departs after serving for two terms. Robert Situma, Tony Omusina and Gilbert Andugu are eyeing the position. The treasurer’s docket is all but decided. Current treasurer Maurice Chichi wasn’t cleared to defend his seat leaving former treasurer Oliver Napali as the sole candidate for the position.Heading to the polls, Shikanda believes that he has what it takes to be reelected as club boss. He says he stuck with the team during difficult times unlike his predecessors who took off when the team was facing financial challenges. Former chairmen Allan Kasavuli and Dan Mule were accused of deserting the club when it faced financial problems.“We are going to elections on Sunday after three challenging years and I am confident that Leopards fans will reelect me because in the three years that I have been in charge of the team I portrayed my true character, I did not run away when things got tough like some of my predecessors did. Three of our previous chairmen ran away due to financial issues but I stuck with the team,” Shikanda said on Thursday morning.AFC Leopards Elections Chairman Dan Shikanda wants to retain his seat.
