Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side AFC Leopards will today go to the polls to elect new office bearers who will lead the club for the next three years. The Dan Shikanda-lead team has served for three years and only the chairman will be defending his seat in the polls that will be conducted by the Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD-Kenya) at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani. The exercise starts at 8 AM and will end at 1 PM.##NAJAVA_MECA_6471774##Shikanda, who has served since 2019 as chairman is the only one of the current officer bearers who will be on the ballot. Secretary-General, Oliver Sikuku exits after serving for two terms as permitted by the club constitution, treasurer Maurice Chichi will also leave after one term as he was not cleared for the second term. The club legend faces stiff competition from former club CEO Ronald Namai who is eyeing the chairman’s seat. The two face off again just like was the case in 2019 where Shikanda emerged triumphant after garnering 456 votes, Namai got 72 votes. The Secretary General’s post has attracted three candidates with Sikuku bowing out. Former Chairman of Chairmen (COC) Gabriel Andugu, Robert Situma, and Tonny Omusina will square it out for the position with all the three seeking to join Ingwe leadership for the first time.AFC LEOPARDS ELECTIONS UPDATE VOTING1. Oliver Napali returns to the docket after one term in the cold. He was trounced by Chichi during the 2019 polls. Sikuku got 506 votes while Napali came in second with 188.The new officials will come into the office at a time when the club is facing financial challenges and a transfer ban slapped by the world football governing body, FIFA. The ban means Ingwe cannot recruit players for the next two transfer windows and will have to bank on their current squad.
