With Kenya currently serving a suspension from world football governing body FIFA, AFC Leopards forward John Makwata has admitted that the move has affected his chances of moving abroad.The diminutive forward joined Kenya Police FC last season from Zambian giants Zesco United before making the switch back to Ingwe in the 2022 January transfer window.Former AFC Leopards and Bandari coach Casa Mbungo bags trophy in RwandaMakwata admitted that the suspension is currently posing a challenge to players who want to make moves abroad with clubs skeptical about signing Kenyan players and he touched on some of the challenges of playing abroad.“FIFA is everything when it comes to football, the suspension is really affecting us when it comes to transfers, when you talk to a foreign club or agent they already know that we have a suspension. Everybody wants to leave for greener pastures and I also want to return to a club out there.” He opened up.A number of Kenyan players have however made the move abroad despite Kenya still under the suspension with his former teammate Collins Sichenje joining Swedish outfit AIK and Eugene Asike joining Karlstad.The experienced striker has has short stints abroad most notably in Zambia and Kuwait. He however still habours ambitions of moving to the “money leagues”. “Football has a lot of issues. There are times you go out there then weeks later the coach is changed which affects you, players have a lot of challenges which people don’t know, it’s not that you don’t know football,” said Makwatta.I want to play in a professional league that pays well so that before I retire I secure my future that is what I’d want before hanging my boots,” he added.
