Premier League’s forgotten men on the move this July

Darwin Nunez, Erling Haaland, Raphinha, Richarlison, Sven Botman, Gabriel Jesus…the list is long and will be even longer by the time this transfer window comes to an end. A number of players have already been the main stories of the Premier League transfer window, and there is still over 60 days to go until the end. But far from the media spotlight, right there in the ‘dark corner’ of the transfer ‘window’ there are well known players, established Premier League footballers, who passed its best, or are simply out of form for some time now, and who will (again) change clubs by the time September comes. And many of them used to be in the ‘main news’ category just year/s ago.Premier League clubs in the transfer market pic.twitter.com/jmqMXvFWRB— Troll Football (@TrollFootball) June 17, 2022 Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal)The Ivory Coast winger arrived with much hoopla after a staggering 80 million euros paid to Lille who (again) did a wonderful job picking him up from Angers for just 18 million two years before. Two years after his transfer to Emirates, it’s safe to say that he didn’t fulfill his expectations. He started only five Premier League games this season and has contributed just one goal and one assist during his 23 domestic outings. At one point it looked like he finally satisfied Mikel Arteta, who said that Nicolas has upped his form and that he raised the standard under which he cannot go anymore, but it soon fade away. If the Gunners are to buy another winger since they were outbid by Chelsea for Raphinha, he will be the fourth in line. He needs to leave one way or another if he wants to revive his career. A big cut price move or a loan with much smaller wage could be on the cards. An avalanche of Chelsea signings begins! Leeds accepted the offer for Raphinha, everything will be over soonChristian Pulisic and Ross Barkley (Chelsea)The American forward had a wonderful chance to secure his place in Thomas Tuchel’s first 11 this season, mainly due to the fact that other forwards such as Ziyech, Lukaku or Werner were not that good, but former Borussia man failed to do so. He made 38 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring eight goals and picking up five assists, but in the Premier League, he only had 13 starts. A revamp of Chelsea’s attack is looking more likely and if that happens, he will surely look to leave the club. And just to remind you, he was paid 64 million euros just 3 years ago…Ross Barkley was perceived as new Frank Lampard, but he is not even worth mentioning in the same sentence, other than maybe Everton and Chelsea, for which both men played. Pulisic’s 38 appearances in 2021 look great considering Barkley’s 14 times. He came from Everton in 2018 for 18 million euros and was predicted a great career, but it didn’t happen. N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are ahead of him (Jorginho might leave), and he needs to finally move on, for less money, but more playing time.Is the saga coming to an end? Bosses of Tottenham and Everton meeting over Richarlison’s futureDele Alli (Everton)Alli on the move again? Who on earth could predict such a downfall of this player? He came to Tottenham so young, he reminded people of James Milner, who started at Leeds as a 16 year old boy, and he looked like a bargain at just under 7 million euros, but completely felt apart after the arrival of Jose Mourinho and never came back. He switched to Everton just this January, but given the fact he was not regular and that the Toffies need the money, if somebody would call, Lampard wouldn’t mind. In fact, his deal could be worth a staggering 40 million, if he plays a certain number of games for Everton.Apart from Neco Williams, Liverpool are not expecting any other first-team players to depart, although a serious offer for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could change that. [@_ChrisBascombe]— Anfield Edition (@AnfieldEdition) June 28, 2022 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Liverpool)Somehow, Arsenal’s midfielder thought he would thrive at Enfield and and went to Liverpool in 2017. Year after year he played less and less, and with Salah, Jones, Jota and Diaz playing at his spot, it’s amazing he didn’t try to go earlier. Now is the time to move on, since his contact runs out in 2023. He is still 28 and could be helpful in clubs who are closer to the bottom of the Premier League.##NAJAVA_MECA_6477781##Theo WalcottAnother former star began his career at the age of 16 and made a big money move from Southampton to Arsenal in 2006. Fast forward 16 years, he is now a 33 year old player, way passed his best. He continued in Everton, but never made his mark there and decided to come back to the Saints in 2021. A great decision for marketing purposes, but horrible on the footballing side. He failed to score a single goal last season and was limited to just 12 appearances in all competitions. A move to MLS is already being mentioned by the British press.
