Anemosity surrounding Lukaku – eyebrow raising comments before his return to Inter

Romelu Lukaku got what he wanted – he is back at Giuseppe Meazza after an underwhelming season at Stamford Bridge. Reasons are many for his below-par performances at Chelsea, some of them being not seeing eye-to-eye with Blues manager Thomas Tuchel or not leaving things on a good foot with the Nerrazuri fanbase. It was obvious Big Rom is out of place after leaving Milano but it wasn’t just the surrounding circumstances that made it hard for him. The player himself gave a controversial interview for Sky Italia last December with statements that only made him more distant from Chelsea supporters. His timing was poor and the delivery of it looked as if the player himself is not sure if he did the right thing by joining the Stamford Bridge club. There are many culprits why the move back to London did not work out, the player himself being one of them, and eventually, the footballer ended up being a ‘punching bag’ when it comes to comments, jokes and social media jabs.##NAJAVA_MECA_6480793##From the point of view of the Blues’ manager, he endured a fractious relationship with the Belgian striker throughout the past 12 months. Renowned Goal reported that the gap between Tuchel and Lukaku broadened more after the German made a brutal joke towards the Belgian when the team was doing video analysis of the Tottenham Hotspur side, led by Lukaku’s coach at Inter, Antonio Conte.Tuchel then made a savage joke that ‘didn’t go down well’ with the Belgian striker. Whilst watching a game involving Spurs, the Blues boss offended Lukaku by joking that Conte was his ‘daddy’.It’s claimed that the incident exacerbated the already-strained relationship between the two.”To see him talk so highly of Inter was an insult to Chelsea fans. It broke the relationship with them.”, the Goal journalist explained. “And there was another incident behind the scenes that wasn’t televised or anything like that.”Someone told me that Lukaku and Tuchel were watching a Tottenham game and Tuchel said, ”There’s your daddy”, about Antonio Conte. It was just a joke, but apparently, it didn’t go down very well with Lukaku.”Revealed : “Somebody told me once that Tuchel and Lukaku were chatting watching a Spurs match, Tuchel then said “There’s your daddy” about Antonio Conte as a joke, it did not go down well with Lukaku. It would be no surprise if this loan becomes a permanent stay in Milano but that is a whole different matter.
